NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - There's a new warning from the American Academy of Pediatrics about the those portable, inflatable pools that may be in your backyard. A new study shows a child drowns every five days during the summer in one of those pools.
Three-year-old Jaylyn Hope McKinney of Ohio, drowned after being left alone for less than five minutes, near an inflatable pool last summer.
Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters emergency room physician Dr. Jim Schmidt told WAVY.com, "A couple inches is all it takes and most of these baby pools or portable pools have at least a foot or two.
