COSHOCTON -- The Coshocton Wastewater Treatment Plant processes wastewater from residents and many industries within city limits and some outside.
The plant has had only three minor EPA violations since 2008. All violations were rectified at the next testings, and therefore the EPA did not pursue fines or enforcement action. These were related to levels of fecal coliform, pH balance being too acidic and carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand being tested twice during one seven-day period, when it should be tested three times.
Utilities Director Dave McVay said the city has one of the biggest pretreatment programs in the southeast Ohio district. The plant was built in 1951, with major upgrades and renovations done in 1967 and 2008.
