The Channahon Park District wasn’t much to look at when current director Chuck Szoke arrived to take the position of recreation director in 1978. There were some programs that had already gained a foothold, such as day camp, softball, tennis lessons and swimming at the Manor Motel’s pool, which the district leased in the morning and early afternoon hours.
But now, as the park district celebrates 40 years, its offerings are almost too numerous to list. It puts out a quarterly catalog of programs that packs quite a variety.
Szoke said the district was created in August 1971 by members of the community after the state decided taking care of the Illinois & Michigan Canal access was not its job anymore. Communities rushed in to take the responsibility, and the Channahon Park District was created. The park district maintained control over the site for three or four years, Szoke said, then a change in state government brought the park back to state control.

Cuz that's just disgusting.
Salt water would damage the plumbing and filtration equipment required to run a large pool.
I wish they would Sea Salt water if you don't mind being in it, ( a lot of people don't) is much better for you in general.
After a while, Im sure the salt would irritate your body, and if you swallowed it, it wouldnt taste all that great either. You skin absorbs the sodium ions and therefore can increase your blood pressure. It would burn your eyes, too!
The chemical make-up of it helps the bacteria and other stuff grow in it. While you could float around in it easier, you can still drown, don't let that fool you. And, as I said, the other, main, issue would be hygiene.
